The Ahlstrom Reliance® Fusion is a next-generation sterilization wrap designed to enhance efficiency and protection in healthcare sterilization processes. It features a dual-layer construction that combines the optimal properties of cellulose-based and polypropylene-based materials.

Inner Layer: This absorbent wetlaid nonwoven layer is composed of cellulose, synthetic binder, and PET fibers. It offers superior moisture pass-through performance, contributing to a softer and stronger cellulose-based fabric.

Outer Layer: Made from 100% polypropylene using SMS (Spunbond-Meltblown-Spunbond) technology, this layer is strong, durable, and treated to resist static charge. It provides a high barrier against fluids and microorganisms.

This dual-layer construction enables a significant reduction in drying time—by approximately 30–40%—compared to traditional sterilization wraps. The improved moisture absorption minimizes the risk of wet packs, which can compromise sterility and necessitate reprocessing.

Each sheet features bonded layers of different colors (blue and green) to simplify the sequential wrapping process and facilitate quick visual verification of breaches or punctures. Fusion wrap is compatible with steam, ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization systems.
